Over the last 20 years ubiquitous computing has become reality. Phones, household appliances,TVs, cars, and even buildings have essentially become computers. interacting with computing technologies has become an integral part of our life. Embedded computers more and more shape how we perceive the world and how we interact with each other. By creating ubiquitous computing technologies we inevitably change the way people live. There are great opportunities to build new interactive tool and integrate them in our environment, but developing these systems, raises again many engineering challenges solved in graphical systems. in the talk, some of the technology trends that enable a new generation of computing systems will be highlighted. Examples of interactive ubiquitous computing will be discussed to outline key challenges. The talk concludes with a vision that suggests computing systems can massively enhance human perception and cognition in the near future.
